Graphic Design Techniques
Investigating different techniques used in past, present, and future in design.
Being a graphics designer myself, I know a lot of what happens in the graphic design industry today, and I’ve learned a lot of the past few years while working as a freelancer designer for freelance game developers and music production artist.
There are many different techniques used in graphics design that date back from since the first printer/press was made to the Flat vs. Skeuomorphism style to the future of what tomorrow’s graphics design will look like with 8K resolution and HoloLens, etc.
Past
Gutenberg Press
The Gutenberg press was a revolutionary invention in history. It was invented in 1440 by Johannes Gutenberg, and it was a way where ink can be compressed onto a sheet of paper and stay there permanently once it was dried and cleaned up.
The paper had to be slightly damp for the ink to stay on the paper for the press to properly work and had to be lined up properly for the pages to print neatly onto the paper.
Then the paper would be flipped over the ink, and then someone known as a puller would pull the press and print the ink onto the page.
