When I started working from home, I noticed one big absence in my work setup: a second monitor. I started doing research for my next investment.

  • Should I get a monitor?
  • If so, do I rent or buy?
  • Which brand should I get?
  • What are the alternatives?
  • What is the best long-term investment?

A new monitor at the local tech store would cost around $90 for one of the cheapest models.

At the top of my mind was renting. Why renting? Since it has become mainstream, it has also become easy and affordable. After a set period of time, you don’t have to worry about what to do with the devalued piece of tech anymore. The rental company does it for you and keeps a device in the circular economy.

German tech startup Grover, for example, rents out nearly everything your heart desires. Monitors also, starting at €7.90 per month, if you rent for the period of at least one year.
