Heavy headed

The head is so hard to hold up

weighed down by cotton and fuzz from fatigue

also the continuous wondering

how to keep pretending to fit into this league?

when the blankets and sitcoms are calling

all these, your enablers in your bid to ‘avoid’

where studying and planning just won’t stick

and ice cream and cake become your steroids

How to take ownership when you don’t feel you own it

and the only reason you do do it is so you can be done one day

how to focus and regroup and keep on moving

how to decontaminate your brain of all the disarray?

Lazy days actively used to pick yourself up are allowed

Not always ‘chin up’, some times: ‘head down, on pillow’

shut the world out, shut the eyes and open the door to la-la-land

Re-strategizing and beginning the new phase can be left for tomorrow.
