How Do You Make a Great Show?

Making a show is exhilarating, gut-wrenching, anxiety-inducing, chaotic, energizing and ultimately fun. On any given day, you’re making big picture and granular decisions from a creative, business and people perspective.

Your role is to align, motivate, problem solve for and manage a hundred people with very different backgrounds and skill-sets, who’ve all come together for a short period of time to tell a great story. There will always be conflict, but the joy of watching all the myriad parts all come together makes the journey more than worth it.

My team* is aiming to build India’s premium long-form storytelling platform. We take pride in telling relatable, high-quality stories and building an open, meritocratic culture. We currently have four writers rooms running, three shows going on the floor, a show in edit, and an extensive pipeline for 2019.

We’re constantly evolving. These are my lessons so far:

Choose carefully

Decide what stories you want to tell. As the content ecosystem in India explodes, it’s increasingly important to choose the space you want to be in, and how you plan to differentiate yourself.
