It wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be

Who loves chasing invoices?

No one.

I’ve spent years with a business model that included monthly invoicing. It sucked hitting “send” never knowing when I was going to receive payment.

It didn’t matter what the payment terms were — Due on Receipt, Net 15, or Net 30.

I never went beyond Net 30 because that’s just ridiculous! If you can’t pay an invoice within 30 days, which is pretty standard for any bill, then you may need to rethink your own business model. Personally, there’s no reason or excuse for Net 60 or 90 payment terms. Ever.

Clients typically want me to turn projects in within a week, depending on the project. I deliver on time, or even ahead of time = you pay me on time. That’s the fair exchange.

I HATED having to constantly and apologetically follow up on overdue invoices. It was awkward for both my clients and me. I don’t like asking for money in the first place, even if it is owed to me.
