Over the last five years, there has been one skill that I’ve been practicing without even realizing it. I’ve read many books on the subject, but many of them didn’t specifically name the skill, so I continued to practice it without knowing what it was.

It’s a gift that has got me through failed relationships, the difficult world of dating, public speaking competitions, failed career change and grueling job interviews.

Without this skill, I’d never have begun blogging and reaching a wide audience, or sharing my many failures on the internet or getting on stages and sharing my story as an attempt to inspire a few people along the way.

The skill I accidentally mastered and implemented — that was a game changer — is the utilization of an alter ego.

Fear disappears with an alter ego.

You show up differently with an alter ego.

You can take on goals that you normally wouldn’t with an alter ego.
