How to Grow as a Writer Naturally (and Avoid the Traps)
An anti-fear guide for writers who want authentic growth
I once signed up for a one-week mentorship with a well-known Medium and Substack coach. He promised tools I supposedly needed to succeed, insider strategies like ‘consistency is key’ and ‘post every day at the same time’ — things anyone could Google. By the end of the week, I realized he hadn’t taught me a single thing I didn’t already know — except maybe that some people are absolute masters at selling the illusion of expertise.
Sure, he reminded me to stay consistent. But did I need to pay someone to tell me that? Absolutely not.
And that’s what this article is about. I hope to reach other writers on Medium to remind them of one thing — do not fall for fear tactics from so called “Writing Coaches”. Most of them are younger than you and their real ambition is clicks, reads and sign-ups from other writers who probably have the same level of talent, but are just a lot more insecure.
