Your conscious and subconscious mind are fundamentally different.

Your conscious mind handles your cognitive thoughts and decisions.

Your subconscious mind handles everything else.

All of your thoughts, biases, emotional reactions, past trauma, core beliefs, and preferences live in your subconscious mind.

I like to compare your subconscious and conscious mind to a computer:

When you think of a computer, you likely think about what YOU do with it. Your ability to read online, communicate, write a paper, stream a movie, work, create, etc.

But you and I both know that there’s a whole lot more to a computer than that. Your computer runs hundreds of thousands of subroutines. The sole purpose of these subroutines is to take care of EVERYTHING ELSE so you can do what you want to do when you want to do it.

Your subconscious mind is like that — continually making thousands of decisions. When you are in a flow state, your subconscious mind is performing at its best: quieting all sensory input that could distract you from your sole purpose. Noise, sound, touch, smell, and sight — Everything disappears…
