I’ve been wanting to read more often but it always seems like I have no time. Every time I come across a book recommendation online, I save it and say to myself, “I’m going to read this one right away.” And of course, it never works out like that.

I knew there had to be a better way of fitting in time to read during the day. So, I studied my normal schedule and realized a few time slots that stayed consistent through the week that I could listen to content every day.

Following a set schedule will make it easier as you can listen to your content at the same times each day. Making it habitual is the best way to stay on track.

Schedule

It’s best to listen in increments of at least 30 minutes to help retain information better. The average commute to work with traffic is right around 30 minutes, which works perfect. Listening just 30 minutes every morning to work puts you at 2.5 hours. With the average audio book lasting around 5 hours, this puts you half way through your book.

If you’re feeling like a book worm you can listen on the 30-minute ride home as well, working out to another 2.5 hours. Put together you have your 5 hours of content for the week and another book finished.
