How To Really Compete With AWS

Thanks to my network I got this: Corey Quinn tells, how you - yet another startup or an entrepreneur or an engineer or whoever/whatever you are - can compete with AWS.

I have to admit - with all my respect towards Corey I cannot agree with him. In this post, I'm going to address my concerns and point out where AWS should improve and how can one compete with this monstrous Cloud provider.

Though what Corey states makes sense, there are few things I want to point out and address.

AWS is not a train.

It's a friggin' spaceship. The majority of the services, which were built and provided by AWS are the first of their kind, thanks to extremely competent R&D people.

Amazon Web Services pioneers almost every way of building software products (except tiny little container orchestration platform) - Lambda as reactive programming, S3 as a modern approach for storage. Aurora Serverless as literally a first successful attempt to provide a proper scaling out for relational databases (prove me wrong).

And like it or not - AWS is a first vendor who introduced a declarative approach…
