This past week, the major social media apps made a bold move and statement and decided to remove many high-profile accounts from posting content on their platforms. They cited various reasons for doing so, but essentially, they did not agree with the content, so it had to go. Is it right, is it wrong? I have no idea. This is the first time in history that the words “Social”, “Media” and “President” have existed together in our collective conscious. So we will have to see how it plays out.

But, this had a surprising side-effect as people were finally able to look away from the constant flowing stream of shocking headlines and found themselves looking elsewhere for their daily consumption of content. One of those platforms is Minds.

Minds is marketed as the leading alternative social network on its homepage. One that is open-sourced, community owned and dedicated to free-speech and privacy. It also has a somewhat heavy focus on monetization as it allows people to send you direct payments through USD, Bitcoin or Ether. And you can even earn tokens for your content which you can use for various things such as upgrading your channel or ‘boosting’ your content.

They have a code of conduct which states that the code-base is open-sourced for anyone to look at it or to even fork out…
