Writing about entrepreneurship is sexy.

You know, the usual success stories. How we are killing it. We are making so much more money now! The freedom we have. Oh, I’ve got time to go to the gym!

All of that is true.

But they represent half-truths.

Many solopreneurs or 1st-year entrepreneurs have a personal brand to upkeep. Ask them this question whenever they try to rub their success on your face.

“What is the price you paid to get to where you are now?”

There is a price for everything

That said, not all prices are denominated in dollars and sense. Take, for instance, the following,

• The freedom to fire our bosses,
• Venturing out and leaving our parents behind,
• Ascending the corporate ladder by climbing on the backs of others,
• Hustling for 18 hours daily as a digital nomad,
• Building our own business from ground zero.
