Shortcuts is the most powerful app on your iPhone.

But 99% don’t know how to — really — use it.

Here are my 7 most useful shortcuts that will make your life easier.

1. Automatically turn off your smart plug when your iPhone’s battery reaches 80%

Take care of your phone’s long-term battery health.

My last two iPhones have had 100% battery health after more than a year of use.

My secret is quite simple.

  • Keep the battery between 50% and 80% whenever possible.
  • Use a wired cable to charge your iPhone to reduce heat.
  • Use a 20W adapter in the day and a 5W adapter at night.

Before I used to do it manually, but now I have a Shortcut that automatically turns off my Wyze smart plug whenever my battery percentage rises above 80% and turn it back on when it falls below 50%.

Wyze doesn’t have Apple HomeKit support, so I set it up via IFTTT with a webhook. And oh my — it works like a dream.
