Counting of objects or simply object counting has many different applications and use cases, both in our daily lives as in the world of enterprises.

Counting of cars using a physical counting device.

Over the decade many different techniques were designed and developed, to help us measuring the world. To succeed we used many different devices and sensors to quantify objects that are approaching or getting nearby a predefined region of interest.

As of today, a lot of progress has been made on many different areas, especially in the branch of computer science and more specifically in the sub branches computer vision and machine learning. By having and combining these new advanced technologies, we can now go beyond the level of object counting. As of today we can identify these objects, and accomplish more specific use cases such as People Counting, Vehicle Counting, etc.

Over the last years we have seen a lot of adoption of frameworks such as TensorFlow and OpenCV. The adaption by so called developer communities, accelerated the development and effectiveness of these frameworks towards our use cases.

We, from Kerberos.io, also advanced our VMS solution towards this topic, and now have made Object Counting available as a service (OAAS); another funny acronym to add to the XAAS family, sorry.

Welcome to Kerberos Cloud
