Passive Aggressive Posting: Is Anyone Openly Honest These Days?

I’ve recently been involved in a situation, not of my own making, where passive aggressive posting on the internet was directed at me.

I was minding my own business and someone pointed out that another person had posted a music video on their Facebook page. The timing and subject of the music video made it absolutely certain, not just to me, but to many other people, that it was directed me.

It would have been much easier for this person to either pick up the phone or to knock on my door. Even an email or a message would have made the point. But they chose to do it this way.

The question is, why?

Passive aggressive behaviour is a covert but deliberate way of expressing feelings. It is usually a way to express anger, but often the passive-aggressive person will derive satisfaction from manipulating the situation. This is a pay-off to ‘get-back’ at the other person for their perceived complaint.
