My husband has been going to school to obtain his B.S. and succeed in the I.T. industry. He is working almost full-time while in school. I will be going to school this summer to get my B.S. in Professional Communication and Emerging Media. For the next two years, we are going to be very busy.
We both got to finishing our degrees later in life, opting to work first before going to school. An understatement for my husband as he spent the first 4.5 years after high school in the Marine Corps, he has always been learning and working. His hard work ethic taught me how to function better in the working world.
I digress, we have been dedicated gamers since before we got together. His taste being more Call of Duty, Halo and Command & Conquer. Whereas my tastes are more RPG such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Repbulic, The Walking Dead, Life is Strange and the various BioWare games; Mass Effect and Dragon Age. One thing has always been a constant, we both loved Pokemon growing up and collected the cards.
Gotta Catch ’Em All
I downloaded the app for the game back in 2016 when it first came out but the phone I had was crappy and the plan I was on would not sustain an adventurous Pokemon tracking (low data). So I ended up deleting the app after a couple of months.
Around July or August I decided to upgrade to one of the newer iPhone’s. It had all the room in the world and I recently got unlimited data. The job I was at required a lot of driving so it was the perfect opportunity to check other cities Poke Stops and gyms. I am no longer there but I continued to play regularly at my new job.
Fast forward to this past month and my husband gets a brand new phone. He is able to play Pokemon Go and is looking for activities to play with me. We tried things like chess, multiplayer games and reading together as quality time. It didn’t keep my attention very well. Now that the weather is perfect (we live in Wisconsin) and he is done with school for the summer, we decided that the best way to spend time together and get in shape was to do Pokemon Go. So far, he has already almost caught up with me on level. We have been seeing more downtown sites and spending time with others as opposed to being hermits.
On the first day playing, Brandon (the husband) had caught not only one but two Charizards! I was so jealous as I hadn’t even evolved to that yet and he caught two on the first day! To be fair, Detective Pikachu had just come out and they were showing Pokemon from the movie. Regardless, I was green with envy. Brandon was nice enough to trade his lowest combat level Charizard to me because that’s how marriage is.
I appreciate the time that he puts forth in spending time with me. I know I can be difficult to handle at times but my husband is a trooper. No pun intended. I can admit that my headline is click-baitesqe as our marriage wasn’t in danger of being over, but there are activities that couples must do together to keep the love alive. I am just glad that we found this one.
