Countless friends, co-workers, girlfriends, and employees have expressed their desire for a raise. The usual grief sounds like this:

“I deserve more money”

“I know I’m worth more”

“I can’t believe I’m paid less than _____”

“I haven’t gotten a raise in years”

“I need a raise to pay for my _____”

Here’s the thing, it doesn’t matter what you think or know. You’re probably talking to a business that is trying to manage its profitability, a manager with no power, or a leader who doesn’t think you’ll quit.

Statistically older people don’t leave their jobs as often, and employers know this. The longer you’re at a job, the less chance you’ll quit (ironically since I found people who worked in a job for a long time often hate it the most).
