A photo of the desert landscape in my ‘hood that I took yesterday. It hasn’t been approved (or rejected) yet. We shall see. Photo by Peggy Hazelwood

At some point last year (I honestly don’t remember when), I got a wild hair and tried my hand at submitting photos to a few stock photography sites. I was promptly rejected by one site for poor quality photographs.

Okay. I’ve been rejected before. In many ways. That didn’t stop me.

Then I tried another site and submitted five photos. One was approved and that’s all it took. I was in!

You might have said to yourself, “But, only one out of five of my photos was good enough? I can’t do this.”

Not me. Any validation feeds my soul, so I was off!

The Stock Photography Site

Like I said, I was rejected by at least one stock photography site when I first started submitting photos. I didn’t let it bother me since I am not a professional photographer. Well, I wasn’t at the time, but more on that later.

I simply moved on. I tried again and submitted some photos to Shutterstock. And blow me down, one photo was actually approved! That meant I was able to submit more photos to them, and I quickly learned what was acceptable and what wasn’t as far as quality goes.
