The world of digital nomad visas (DNV) is ever-changing. And yet, the same handful of countries grab all the attention.

Spain and Italy continue to lure digital nomads with their DNVs, while Malta has climbed up the ranks (though it has become significantly more expensive of late). If you wanted, you could island-hop around the Caribbean as a large chunk of nations offer one-year nomad visas, and there are even options for high-profile Asian nations like South Korea and Japan.

All of this is great for remote workers looking for the opportunity to live outside of the U.S. for longer than a few months. However, if you’re looking to work away from the United States with the goal of saving money, you’re probably not going to pocket much extra cash if you’re living in Japan or New Zealand.

Thankfully, there are loads of opportunities elsewhere. If you’re open to taking the road less traveled, you will certainly find affordable destinations. Plus, beyond the perk of saving money, many of the most affordable digital nomad nations are also more welcoming.
