The Best Medium Tool That Nobody Seems To Talk About

My love of Smedian runs deep.
That’s right, I’m not even going to waste your time with a dumb introduction that teases you for 6–7 paragraphs.
The Medium tool that nobody seems to talk about is a website that goes by the name of Smedian.com.
I have no idea why more publications and writers don’t use it. I don’t know why it’s not talked about more. For something as helpful as this, it should be used by every single writer who uses this platform.
I’m Writing This Because I Legitimately Love Smedian (And Lincoln W Daniel)
Full disclosure, I’m a huge fan of Lincoln W Daniel and his publication Marketing + Growth Hacking. I even interviewed him for my upcoming virtual summit because I was so impressed with Smedian and his publication.
He is the maker of this fine tool.
If you’re reading this and know who I am, you know I like helping writers build their audience on Medium. I think Medium is low-key the premiere place on the internet to build your audience as a blogger.
I think it’s not even close, actually.
Smedian has been mentioned in multiple articles in the past, but it’s their recent developments that have really caught my eye as someone who considers themself a Medium aficionado.
Let’s talk about what Smedian can do, first off.
Easily Request To Contribute To Publications
The best feature of Smedian, to me, is the ability to easily contribute to publications.
I’m not about to give you a guided tour of how to do this, but if you navigate over to their “Contribute” page, you’ll see a list of about 350+ publications you can easily request to contribute to using a small green button.
Yes, that’s seriously all you have to do.
Click a button.
Then a few days (or hours) later you’ll be made a contributor.
It’s like you took the red pill, huh?
SIDE NOTE: You can also see the Top 100 Medium publications on Smedian and take a look at some of the “fastest-growing” ones too. It’s sweet.
Easily Capture Emails Below Your Articles
The most important thing for you as a writer (besides the content) is the call-to-action at the bottom of your articles.
Without a place to “capture” your audience so you can re-market to them later, you’re wasting the eyes that a good post attracts and setting them free until they MAYBE find you again.
My friend Lincoln knew this, so he created an easily embeddable form that you can throw inside your articles to capture email addresses. It even connects with Mailchimp!

It’s probably the most intuitive Medium embed you can find for this sort of thing, and it’s all free.
Some New Stuff
These features have been part of Smedian for quite some time, though. When I got started on Medium a year and a half ago, these features were already part of the site.
Luckily Lincoln has been working on some other features that can really change the game for Medium writers everywhere. Let’s start with the chat feature.
You Can Now Talk To Any Medium Writer
Lincoln’s designed a pretty sick feature on Smedian that allows any person to contact any writer they want.
As long as that writer is on Smedian, people can contact them using the Chat feature.
I met people like Sunny Creates and others using the tool — all you got to do is search for your author in the top left of the chat box and you’ll be able to find them and send them a message.
Anybody want to send me one?
It makes Medium a lot more intuitive.
For creators, this is a chance to connect with people in ways you simply can’t on Medium. For aspiring writers, this is a chance for you to connect with creators you admire and get their ear.
It’s certainly getting mine, I can tell you that.
Lincoln’s also designed a #general channel for people to network, ask questions, and help each other out.
I think anybody who’s serious about Medium needs to spend more time there.
Nobody knows about it, so it’s a HUGE opportunity.
Schedule Tweets Of Your Stories
Smedian is now sort of like HootSuite for your Medium articles (in a way).
With Signal, a brand new feature, you can insert the URL of your story, connect your Twitter account, and schedule that story to be tweeted in the future.
It’s amazing, and incredibly easy to do.
That’s what it looks like 👆
I would write about it more, but it’s literally that easy. There’s nothing else to detail!
Get On Smedian Right Now
If this is the very first time you’ve heard about Smedian, I’m incredibly excited for you.
Lincoln is my friend, and since I write a lot about helping people who want to build their audience on Medium, I thought this would be the perfect time to write about Smedian 2.0 as I like to call it.
It can open you up to a whole new world on this platform.
