And why I find them extremely boring

As I scrolled through my Medium feed, I couldn’t help but notice a plethora of articles that started with “How I…”

How they made $22,000 in one weekend or grew their newsletter subscribers to 10,000 in a month, or how their wife turned a blog post into a 5-figure income stream.

Same shit, different day.

The advice and their how-to’s are nothing we haven’t seen before. The formulas are pretty much the same. They haven’t reinvented the wheel or learned how to walk on water. They’re doing the same shit everyone else is doing, just repackaging it.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy they’ve found success, but here’s a newsflash:

It didn’t happen overnight.

And those of you who are still trying to figure this shit out know it.

It takes work. It takes time. It takes trial and error.

I’ve been self-employed for over twenty years and started multiple businesses. None of them were overnight successes.
