Leadership 101

It may surprise you, but exceptional leadership isn’t solely the domain of senior executives or start up CEO’s. There are examples of exceptional leaders, and exceptional leadership, all around us. From the loving parent raising their child, to the restaurant manager successfully dealing with a tricky customer, to the club captain that doesn’t say much but to whom everyone listens; we see examples of exceptional leadership — from an assortment of exceptional leaders — in all facets of life. What defines an ‘exceptional leader’ isn’t a job title or economic status. What defines an exceptional leader is the habits they have that endear people to listen and follow them.

As such, I have outlined below four of these habits, and why they are effective leadership traits, to demonstrate how anyone can be an exceptional leader, if they choose to be.

So here they are, the four simple habits of exceptional leaders.

Habit 1: Re-framing problems to motivate and empower.

Exceptional leaders will always seek to understand the problems they face and then re-orientate their frame of view to one that empowers meaning from the situation. They also seek to frame the problem…
