The superhero genre appears to rule the box office in the present day. Marvel movies generally easily gross at least $100 million worldwide.

The stars in these movies are larger than life heroes with amazing powers. They can deal with whatever the world throws at them by smashing, zapping, or flying through the particular obstacle.

It’s easy to see why these movies are so popular. We can’t do this in the real world. We have no robotic suit, spaceship, or superhuman strength. When the monsters of life hit us, we generally get smashed into the ground.

Iron Man, Spider Man, or Thor may be able to use otherworldly powers to fend off failure, but we don’t have that luck.

We fail and we fail hard. We fail repeatedly and sometimes life is a never ending string of failures.

A life of regular failure is so guaranteed, how we deal with these failures more than likely determines how our life plays out. Sometimes we look for success / life coaches to teach us how to win at life.

More than likely we look for a role model or hero we can emulate. We generally focus on this hero’s successes. However, this focus is way too myopic.
