“If your illusion reveals something as treasure, you will lose the real treasure because of that illusion.” — Rumi

LLike many other people, you may be looking for a treasure that means a better lifestyle or the tools and circumstances for having ideal properties in your life. So, many people think that improving their lives is possible only with having the treasure or wealth. But we are unaware of this grand illusion that is taking us away from the real treasure.

So many people waste their life by targeting the illusion of treasure or wealth. They think the only way to happiness is through the gates of money and wealth. Whereas money, like all the means of life, is only one tool and not the equivalent of life. When this misconception comes to mind, all life becomes a race to the mirage.

Many things may be valuable to you. With this notion, you are adjusting your efforts to conquer those values. But when you get to those things, you see that they are like mirages. Is our illusion the source of this energy and effort?

You may regret many of your efforts so far in life. Don’t blame yourself because now you are the result of these efforts. At least, you will reschedule your life based on the lessons learned from those efforts.

When we go back to our childhood, many of our old dreams no longer make much sense to us. We may even be sorry that we had wished for those dreams.
Our values make our dreams, and our goals make our efforts in life. So rethink and set your values to change the results. If you make your values based on the illusions, your efforts are useless. And the great question is that what is the real treasure?

An Endless Loop

There may be a mental rule in people’s minds. Evaluating a dream or goal, then trying to achieve it, wasting, or consuming time, and after a while, it is no longer valuable to the person. The repetitive loop in life that makes us at the very beginning of our lives. We think we made no progress. This endless loop makes us unhappy, worried, and afraid in our lives.

You have to be the alchemist of your life. Your existence is your real treasure. Just open your eyes.

When the real treasure is inside you, why do you seek it out?
I recently read a story from Rumi that more than seven hundred years ago expressed precisely the same thing with a sharp, beautiful, and profound look.

Rumi’s story is about a man originally from Baghdad. One night, he sees the treasure is in Egypt. He wakes up and decides to travel there to find and possess wealth.

He prepared the luggage for his trip and went to Egypt. Whatever he searched for, he will find nothing. After a while, he spent all his savings. He was forced to beg because of hunger until he was arrested and imprisoned for the crime of begging.

The jailer or judge realized that the man had set out on a journey for a dream. The truth was that the main reason for the crime was the result of the hope of finding a treasure. His trip from Baghdad to Egypt was only base on an unimportant dream.

So he asks him if you traveled from Baghdad for a dream and came here? How did you do that for a dream? I have been dreaming for a long time every night. I see a treasure in Baghdad in the alleyway and in that house, and I don’t care. How did you do that for a dream?

The man noticed that the jailer or judge talked about his home’s address. So, he realized that the treasure is in his home. He returned to his homeland and found the treasure in there.

If we know that the real treasure is within us and realize we are using it, we will end our futile searches.
