Personalized emails, targeted ads, and everything new in the field of marketing is there for some reason. They drive brand awareness and recognition, eventually resulting in sales. But it is not enough.

There is no “Enough” in a marketer’s dictionary. It is all about creativity on top of creativity. Every single day, you come across ingenious marketing campaigns. Do these marketing campaigns work? We can confidently say that it works, but we cannot say to what extent.

But the good thing is knowing that the sky is the limit when it comes to marketing. You can try anything. Even a mistake can turn out to be a successful Marketing Campaign. That is exactly what happened with HBO Max when an intern accidentally sent out an empty email to a portion of their mailing list. When HBO Max sent out an explanation tweet, blaming the intern for the “mishap”, thousands of Twitter users stormed in, to show support for the intern. The “mishap” soon turned into a “happy accident”!

Two major lessons here:

  1. You can even stage an accident (Or not!) for marketing purposes- The thing is, we will never know whether HBO Max…
