The One Sentence That Can Change Your Life
It’ll transform the way you relate to everyone you cross paths with, as well as better your relationships
I never truly believed one sentence could alter my life.
I should know better, of course, than to underestimate the power of words. Words absolutely have the ability to hurt, heal, lift up, and tear down. They can be stunningly potent.
I recently came across this Jackson Brown quote, which changed not just how I viewed the world, but how I related to everyone in it:
“Everyone you meet is afraid of something, loves something, and has lost something.” -H. Jackson Brown
It’s a powerful reminder that we are all so much more alike than we are different. In a world and culture fraught with differing opinions, where we are praised for how unique we can be, it circles us back to our shared humanity.
This is the essence of life in 13 words.
It’s not something I’m proud of, but I know I can be unfairly judgmental of people. I can be defensive, and quick to criticize the behavior, beliefs and actions of others. I know I can do better.
