The Technology of the Metaverse, It’s Not Just VR

The Metaverse isn’t simply a space you inhabit. It’s more like a digital parallel universe and VR is one of its many access points.

As of April 2020, there are 4.5 billion people with internet access and 4.2 billion of those people are mobile internet users. That means, over half the world's population is interacting with the Metaverse on a daily basis. Most don’t even know it.

The Metaverse is an infinitely large, persistent, digital, and interactive information space. The Metaverse is infinite because we can continuously add information to it and it’s persistent because it exists even when we don’t interact with it.

Key Aspects of a Metaverse:

• A digital reality created through the social networking of devices, it’s often a shared reality but can be a small or individual construct
• Persistent in that it cannot be simply shut down or “off”
• It is comprised of vast, bordering on infinite amounts of information
• It increasingly interacts with the physical world
