The Voice Every Entrepreneur Needs To Hear

A voice to counter the inner critic in your mind

If you’re a creative or an entrepreneur, chances are you’re walking a path that’s harder to walk within the communities you exist in, whatever may be the reason.

We spend precious energy, especially in the beginning, swimming against the current to go up this path. We’re absolutely wild to do the things that are unconventional, sometimes we don’t believe we have any other option available to us. We’re madly passionate about the things we believe in, and show up with stubborn faces resolving to do this one way or another.

I want to take a moment to speak with you.

Thank you for turning up as you are. Thank you for bringing your dreams to the table and following your passion. Thank you for daring to think about a future that you’re working to create for yourself, and hence the world.

If you’re anything like me, chances are your biggest enemy is that inner voice in your mind that’s scaring you, slowing you down or causing you to feel distressed at night.

You may not be where you want to be today, but if you take a moment to pause and look back… how far have you come? I don’t know about you, but I never thought I would make it this far down this path.

It may be hard to ‘fit in’, or find mainstream validation for what you may be working on. But I have to tell you, you are enough. You are more than enough. You have enough fire within you, whether you know it or not. You’ve pushed past some incredibly tough situations, and you are still standing tall today.

Take a piece of paper and do this exercise with me.

Write down the answers to these questions, and let your pen move uninhibitedly on the paper. Let your hand do the talking, and just observe.

1. What is the future you want to create, the secret world you’ve been creating all this while in your mind? There is no time like now to let your imagination run wild because the world is at a turning point and I dare to say anything is possible (stopping short of cats flying in the air, hehe).
2. Imagine the whole world is co-conspiring with you to create that world together with you. How do we, as a collective humanity, create that future if you had to put it into 2–3 sentences?
3. What values will guide our actions along our way to support us in our daring pursuit? How will we use these values and match them with our actions to support our pursuit?

Uncertainty is here to stay.

Uncertainty has always been here, but only now have we seen more things we know to be true about the world turn into unknowns. Uncertainty about our health, uncertainty about travel & freedom of movement, uncertainty about our businesses coming out of the other side of the pandemic alive among the many worries that have been on our minds.

Digging deep and finding the roots that allowed me to take off on this path in the first place moved me, and created a renewed sense of hope for me during this downtime. Dealing with uncertainty is never easy, but I hope by being able to see the deep roots you’ve laid for the path you’re taking… you are able to continue walking despite all the uncertainty.
