TikTok Is Only Getting Weirder
“DeepTok” is full of strange and surreal content.
A few weeks ago, a divide on TikTok began to grow. It was based around two different styles, or “sides,” of content. One was called “straight TikTok” and consisted of mostly dances and (often bad or “cringy”) comedy sketches. The other side of TikTok was dubbed “alt” or “elite” TikTok and had edgier and weirder content, with a specific set of sounds and jokes.
On alt TikTok, people would often poke fun of the traditional content that was posted on the straight side, which they considered to be cringy, try-hard, and unfunny. Being on alt TikTok meant that you were cool and unique, while straight TikTok meant that you were basic. There were even audios made to test what side of TikTok you were on:
