This is for all of the non-designers out there, the ones that can hammer out thousands of lines of code, can do scripting in their sleep, have conquered a multitude of the JavaScript framework, but whose web pages still look like a toddler opened an HTML file and mashed on the keyboard. Those people are me. And maybe they are you.

What is a landing page?

Let’s start here. A landing page is the first introduction to your product. It’s the most important statement — an elevator pitch made visual. You only have seconds to convert a customer to fall in love with your product. If they do not follow you down to the fold, consider the page a failure (no, that sounds harsh — consider it an opportunity for redesign).

There are many things that go into building a beautiful web page. Part of it is making sure that the page follows the #aesthetic of the brand. Part of it is combining fonts, colors, statements in a way that makes sense to more than just an over-caffeinated developer.

Part I: Know where to start

You have an idea. You want to validate it. How to make it happen? No idea…
