“Hey! It’s me!” Everybody turns around… and it wasn’t him.
What? You don’t like my joke? It’s not funny?
Come on. Think about it please.
You know what? That’s my favorite joke in the world.
You can hate it, you can feel completely indifferent but I know I love it and that’s the most important.
Not all jokes are for everybody
I’ve found the joke above has two types of audience: people love it or consider it pointless. The best way to describe the most common face I get is this: 😑
Do I care, though? Not one bit.
It makes me smile and laugh, and that’s all I need.
For any kind of joke, there’ll be people who get them and those who don’t. Those who like them and those who don’t. Those who will laugh, those who’ll just show a small smirk and those who’ll make the face above.
But who cares! If it makes you laugh, then it should be enough. Even just a small smile is enough. And the reason is simple.
It’s just good for your health
Laughing and smiling relax your body, boost your immune system, release endorphins (“feel-good chemicals”) and lightens your mood.
I won’t go in details because I’m not an expert in here, but you can remember that it is good for your body.
After all, it feels good to laugh, doesn’t it?
You could want other to feel better and try to help them, but in the end, you’re not in control. They are. So in the meantime, you should make sure you feel good and are happy.
Stupid jokes are simple
And that’s the beauty of it.
Simple and stupid jokes don’t require a certain knowledge beforehand. It’s just there.
It could be a simple wordplay on something someone just said, it might be a standalone joke, it could be just an observation of something stupid which happened around you. Or, you know, the most famous type: dad jokes.
Those can be said to anybody and you may get a positive reply, but as long as you can appreciate them, then your life will be better.
You get a sudden new start
Whatever you were doing, whatever state of mind you were in, stupid jokes interrupt situations. But they also don’t need — nor invite — follow-ups.
That’s it. You’re done with it now and you can get back to whatever you were doing or start something new altogether.
Yet, even going back to what you were doing is like starting anew.
Your mind thought of something else for a bit, lost its concentration, and now has to get back into it, in a different state of mind.
What was blocking you all along could now seem suddenly obvious and open the door to faster progress.
Why? you may ask. That’s just because, for a moment, you head went into scatterfocus and connected dots while your attention was not on the task itself.
As soon as you lose concentration, your brain gets into a different kind of work than when focusing. Instead of searching for the right connection, it creates rather random ones which can then be used while focusing.
Since you were just on that task moments ago, the active dots were the first one attached by your brain on scatterfocus, thus providing you with a better success when you’ll get back to it.
So, now we’re here. You’ve read this weird — but incredibly fun to write — tiny article.
I know you’re hoping for one more stupid joke before getting back to your life and make it more stupid, fun and altogether better, so I’ll give it to you:
I told my doctor that I broke my arm in two places. He told me to stop going to those places.
