“If you want to attract new clients, you must first appease your inner conflict. And by the way, once that happens, stay put; clients will find you.”

This piece of wisdom is what two Sacred Clowns¹ showed a group of practitioners during an experimental workshop. The self-employed case bearer felt relief as we proceeded to help her resolve her inner conflict, a fight between the need for restorative calm and the drive to proactively and assertively get clients.

In a second case, two co-founders of a micro business needed alignment too. However, we figured out that it would be up to the co-founders to canvass clients in this case.

How does this relate to my client acquisition practices?

  1. Congruence is critical. If you sense an inner conflict, a debate within yourself, a hesitation, you may need to work on yourself first. For example, if you use a phrase like “on the one hand, …. on the other hand”, you have found an inner conflict to take care of so that your efforts are not in vain.
