If you’re trying to break into freelancing but you’ve never had a client, you might feel like you’re staring at a mile-high, infinitely wide brick wall, wondering how the heck people have actually gotten over it.

It’s the most paralyzing stage between dreaming of freelancing and actually doing it.

Creating writing samples, crafting the perfect pitch, establishing your rates, and writing blog posts are baby hurdles—easily cleared.

Actually knowing who to contact, what businesses to reach out to, and what services to even offer — that’s the biggest hurdle to clear. Feels damn near impossible.

Everyone has their own methods for finding freelancing clients, these few just happen to be my favorites because they’ve worked time and again.

Content Agencies

Content agencies focus on pumping out content. They don’t pay the highest rates and some people warn that accepting low pay brings down the industry standard, but I don’t agree.
