Last fall my 9-year-old start riding her bike to school. It’s only a 2-block ride, but I felt nervous. So after making sure her helmet fit, her reflectors were in place, and her bicycle had LED head/tail lights ($10 at Walmart), I went looking for a way to keep track of her location.
Things are different from when I was a kid. We’d be out of the house, playing in the woods for hours — as long as we were home for dinner, nobody got in trouble. But we live in a different world now, with different needs, dangers, and tools for parents, so it seemed prudent to see what I could come up with to try and keep her safe without smothering her.
Why The Apple Watch?
I began my search for an inexpensive child-tracking solution optimistically — immediately finding an array of options on the market, all promising to keep you aware of your child’s location, and most even allowing you to call them.
