Why Hire a Writer?

Knowing why people pay writers to do their job is important

With all the talk of making more money, or how to write full time, or even articles accusing these kinds of articles of being misleading or harmful, there’s one very important question that I’ve rarely seen raised. That question is, why do people hire people to write for them in the first place?

In America, as well as in many other places in the world, we are a very literate society. Many of us are educated. Many of us have had to write various things throughout our lives – reports, birthday cards, letters to friends, and texts. Some of us are better at it than others. But certainly not everyone is paid to write.

And yet, writing is an in demand profession. Particularly in demand are those with the skills and know-how to write for the Web. This is why.

Writing is Hard

Despite what you might have heard, writing at a professional level is quite hard. It goes beyond simply writing the way you learned to write in school, expanding into elements of style, technical know-how, different genres, and even a good deal of grit and ability to work with others.
