Why I Gave up Freelancing After 4 (Very) Succesful Years

When five figures and all the freedom of the world aren’t enough

Here I am on one of the rare trips I managed to take, despite having all the free time in the world as a freelancer.

I just got an email from my accountant: it’s official — I’m no longer a freelancer.

All the paperwork is finally done, and I’ve formally informed the government that I’m out of the freelancing game.

It’s funny how a single email can make everything feel so real. After four years of pouring my heart and soul into this journey, I’ve decided to call it quits. And honestly, it’s a mix of relief and a little sadness.

Giving up freelancing wasn’t an easy choice, especially after building something successful and making five figures.

But I knew it was time for a change. I’ve known it for a while.

How It Started

Considering I’ve been struggling for a while, I thought I’d only feel a sense of relief, but instead, there’s this strange mix of emotions — relief, sure, but also sadness and maybe even a little fear. Freelancing has been my life for the past few years.

I think it will be easier for you to understand why I gave up, if I take you back to the beginning — when I first took the plunge into freelancing.
