Why I Write Affirmations Daily and Why You Should Too

If you’re suffering from automatic negative thoughts or have a dream as large as the Indian Ocean but no idea how to achieve it. This simple daily practice could bring about those changes you’ve always wanted, just didn’t know how to get.

I’ve been writing affirmations daily now for about 6 months. I started this from a place of despair, I’d been stuck in a rut for who knows how long, I had dreams but no idea on how to achieve them. I had things I wanted to do, freedoms I wanted to get but my current way of life was not working, it was only holding me back.

So I did what every other self-respecting millennial out there would do, I started reading blogs, you know the ones. Then came the slew of self-help books, me cringing at the checkout and you know, they all spoke about writing daily affirmations.

It couldn’t be that simple, could it?

I started. I was dubious, but I followed the advice. I spent time writing and speaking these simple sentences. Soon enough I even began to believe them.

We tend to believe the things that we tell ourselves — whether they’re true or not. As Byron Katie says in her — honestly mind-blowing — book Loving What Is, ‘reality is always kinder than the stories we tell about it’. If we tell ourselves that we aren’t smart, good…
