Why I’m Giving up Watching TV
(And why you should too).
“I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.” -Groucho Marx
A few weeks ago, I spent an entire Sunday binge watching the second season of Game of Thrones.
A little late to the game, of course, but I wasn’t really itching to watch the show when it first came out.
After recently finishing the book series (disclaimer: it took me five months to finish the five books) I decided that it made plenty of sense for me to watch the show now.
However, with seventy three episodes, all about an hour long (if not longer) I knew I had quite a hefty time commitment on my hands.
So I resolved to hunker down on the couch with a blanket and some snacks and watched episode after episode, until I could begin to feel my eyes glaze over and my mind go fuzzy.
I think I spent about eight hours that day watching TV. By the end of it, I was thoroughly spent.
When I finished, I clicked off the screen and leaned back on the couch, ready to give my burning retinas a much deserved break.
