Ok before I start— this is an opinion piece. I know there are of course many writers out there who love Substack and its features so please hear me out.

Firstly, I love Substack and have hosted my newsletter there for years. But I need to talk about the elephant in the room here.

I am all for having two platforms that have a similar goal to co-exist. After all, healthy competition is the best for the consumers.

But after checking out and playing around with both for a good month (I rarely used Twitter for the last 6 years until recently), I’ve had a few thoughts pop up.

Although this view mostly comes from an observer's perspective as I hardly tweet or ‘notes’ (is that the term now?), I will take a look at both anyways.

I also understand Substack Notes is more aimed at writers however with the beef these two platforms have had in the last month or so, it’s more than obvious they see each other as competitors so I’m treating both platforms as competitors versus complimentary.

As an observer, my goal is information gathering and keeping up to date on what’s new
