Writing As a Means To Vent Out Emotions

As we progress in life, we go through different experiences, environments, people and phases. Sometimes we see our close ones going through difficulties and are able to feel for them or learn from their mistakes.

When a person is able to recover from a hardship they went through in the past, or derive valuable inspiration out of a situation they come across, it is good to vent out the feelings they go through in the process.

One of the most common and convenient ways to do that is to express your feelings to your loved ones, though you may encounter one or more of the following problems in doing that.

  • The person you share with might take it personally and get offended. This can negatively affect relationships.
  • The other person may not be able to relate to your experience; so even if they do try to console you, you wouldn’t get the ultimate satisfaction of having someone understand exactly how you feel.
  • You may not be at the place in your heart to want to share your emotions with anyone on a personal level.

In such circumstances, the best is to convert your experience into inspiration and share it with general public on a platform that gives you instant and massive exposure. Thanks to the digital world of this century, you don’t need to be a celebrity to be able to do that. A meaningful way to go about this is writing and contributing your stories to blogs and publication sites.

Sharing your experiences and emotions in the form of writing has a unique charm to it. It allows you to express anything you like in a safe, unbiased and productive manner. Michelle Jaqua calls this ‘writing from your soul’. Sharing your writings on high traffic publications gets you exposure to feedback and comments from readers, which is a fantastic way to validate and value the emotions you seek to put out there in the first place.

On the flip side, if you are interested in literature and press, making valuable contributions to publication sites can be a good way to start getting your voice out and showing your talent to the world. People who want to pursue a career as freelance copywriters often face the hurdle of choosing what topics to write on. By basing your writings on your exposure, observation and emotions, you can open the floodgates of ideas for interesting subjects and topics to flow into your mind. The more you view writing as a means to vent out emotions, as opposed to a job or responsibility, the more creative, original and appealing your articles would turn out to be. As Danielle Street writes, “Please stop telling me to treat writing like a job!”

People who are considerate towards the feelings of others can also use writing to share the experiences of others. Aphinya Dechalert terms this as ‘thought plagiarism’. As long as you express somebody else’s ideas in a unique fashion, you are offering something of added value to the world to read.

So open up your heart, breathe into words, and keep writing to express as much as you want!
