03.01: Initial Brainstorming

Going into the weekend…

We have been thinking more about the connection between environment and local identity. Can the people in a neighborhood or community help contribute to the musical identity of a place? And can that musical identity then be used as a method for exploration by outsiders?

As a service, there is a potential to crowdsource the musical identity of a place and the then feed it back into our service, which would aid the exploration and understanding of a place by visitors. This exploration could take of form of musical tours, music being played at specific touchpoints throughout a city, or something we haven’t thought about yet. That is one potential concept that we are circling around.

We’re also experimenting with framing our service concept as something that helps people learn or enhances their experience in some other part of their life, as opposed to solving a business problem in the music business.

Moving Forward

This weekend and in class on Tuesday we will create a more detailed research plan in preparation for Thursday’s Stand Up. By the end of Tuesday, we hope to have nailed down our concept moved on to more detailed competitive and primary research, in addition to what we’ve already done.
