Sybarite’s Updated Submission Guidelines
We’re still ready for thoughtful personal essays and fluff pieces about lipstick.
Did you think Sybarite was dead? It’s definitely been in a coma for a long time. It might remain in a coma if no one submits any stories.
Do I care? Not sure. I got exhausted and stopped promoting it. I got on anti-depressants and stopped writing myself. I also know that I’ve scared off a lot of writers by taking a machete to their writing, or outright rejecting their submissions. Not really sure what to say about that, other than I’m picky.
But I thought I’d do one more pitch, because Medium just rolled out a new, easier way to submit stories. Now, if you are simply following a publication, you can submit a piece for publication without going through the hassle of being added as a writer, as explains here. I just changed the settings in Sybarite to allow this; let’s hope this GenX Luddite did it correctly. Please email me if it doesn’t work.
But whether you submit by way of the new process or by sending me a draft link to your story in an email (adeline.dimond@gmail.com), below are Sybarite’s updated submission guidelines. Beware: this is very heavy on what not to do, and pretty light on…
