Today I am thrilled to share that I’ve joined the team at Syllable as the company’s Chief Commercial Officer.

I started selling at a very young age, working at a boat and bait shop on a local lake. This set the course for my love for sales. Early in my professional career I started an insurance agency which I scaled and eventually sold at the age of 30. I wanted to try business-to-business (B2B) sales and went to work for a subsidiary of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wisconsin.

I grew up in a household with a family member who had a chronic illness, and experienced firsthand how much of a difference access to healthcare can make, and why it is important to reach every patient. I learned that by enabling access to care, you can change the life of someone you’ve never met at a critical time when they are dealing with something that has a significant impact on their family. Those experiences have driven my passion to change how healthcare is delivered not just in the US but globally.

I have had the good fortune to play a small part in many of the solutions that are changing healthcare. My experiences led me to an opportunity to help scale one of the first disease management programs for Medicaid and commercial entities. I partnered with 34 states as they administered and updated their Medicaid programs in response to national healthcare reform.

I have worked with Payers, Providers, Governments, and Life Science Companies focusing on the digital transformation of workflows and healthcare analytics to improve care and take waste out of the system. I was able to meaningfully scale those businesses while simultaneously creating jobs and opportunities for people across the globe, which I find to be one of the most rewarding parts of a career in sales. The common thread through all these experiences was my desire to expand the reach of solutions that I believed would enhance access to the best possible healthcare.

When I first learned about the problem Syllable was trying to solve — communication between providers and patients — I could quickly see the tremendous need. Healthcare organizations are constantly being challenged with complex issues that require a lot of time and effort to address, yet they haven’t found a scalable way to tackle some simple tasks like answering the phone, which is how most patients access care and information. By automating some of the most common interactions to ensure every patient inquiry is adequately addressed, Syllable is making sure the needs of every patient are met. I knew I wanted to be a part of this solution.

As Chief Commercial Officer, I’ll be working alongside a team of founders and leaders with high integrity and deep expertise in healthcare and technology, backed by some of the top investors and advisors in healthcare and technology. I am humbled to have the opportunity to be a part of Syllable’s journey and help scale the company’s work across providers in the United States and beyond.
