Teamwork makes the dream work and as the year winds to a close, the level of synergy at Sylo is quietly evident.

With productivity in mind, this will be our last weekly update for a little while. We’ll be trialing a fortnightly update format, meaning your next installment from us will be published on December 14.

Here’s what you need to know from the week that was.

- SYLO IN SEOUL — WE KEYNOTE AT INSIDE FINTECH, KOREA

We’re on the go again and later today, our Co-Founder and Business Director Dorian Johannink will be taking the stage to demo at Inside Fintech in Seoul, Korea, with a little help from our Chief Strategist, Shaan Bhattacharya.

Dorian will be speaking about decentralisation in the real world, as well as presenting a live demo of the Sylo DApp.

- ADVANCES CONTINUE UNDER THE HOOD

But it’s not all jetsetting in the name of decentralisation! The rest of the squad have their heads down working hard to put a robust, innovative DApp in your hands a-s-a-p.

On that, here’s a few words from our Co-Founder and Product Director Ben Jordan:

“On the product side, the team are putting the polishing touches on group calling which will be merged very soon.

We have also made huge strides this week on our Mobile Platform.
Soon, developers will be able to pick up our SDK and build their own decentralised applications, without having to worry about communications, storage, or token exchange features. These features will be but a simple API call away…

Also, a big welcome to Paul — hes joined ‘the powerhouse’ this week as one of our PureScript geniuses working on our core libraries.”

- A NEW FACE IN THE ENGINE ROOM

Cat’s outta the bag — we’ve expanded our PureScript team. Paul Freeman had his first day with us on Monday; here’s a quick message from him to you:

“Hello there! I’m Paul — a NZ resident for the last four years.
I’m originally from the USA, where I did everything from teaching to graphic design, to human resources to business management.

Since 2008, I’ve re-skilled in the field of computer science. I earned my MSc at the University of Auckland, with an emphasis on artificial intelligence, computer science education, and functional programming. For the past two years I was developing an open-source, laboratory automation framework using Elm and Python.

I’ve joined the Sylo team as a PureScript developer. At previous jobs, I’ve baked bread for my team on Wednesdays… so let me know if we want to start doing that here!”

I think I can speak for all of Team Sylo when I say, welcome Paul! (And a big ‘yes, please’ to your delicious bread!)
