Projekt Ilaiyaraaja Season III — 140/365 — Mannavane Mannavane
Ilaiyaraaja’s uses certain Carnatic ragas in an absolutely crazy way. We have seen Valaji getting the Western treatment and Maand getting the folk treatment. Today, we are going to see Aarabhi with a fun nostalgia treatment. the background beat is as if the song was made in the 1950s. It could also be the use of Aarabhi because the most popular Aarabhi song in Tamil is probably Erikaraiyin Mele from Mudhalali (1957).
Raaja has used Aarabhi in another crazy song from Thambikku Endha Ooru — Aasai Kiliye, a fun song that is used when Rajinikanth and Sulochana tease Madhavi. I do have a couple of more Aarabhi songs that I will feature later. But for today it’s going to be SPB and S Janaki giving us one of the perfect Aarabhi based songs.
