Projekt Ilaiyaraaja Season III — 297/365 — Koondhalile Megam

Bala Nagamma was a Tamil-Telugu production with a massive budget that rode on Sridevi’s popularity. The movie had some scintillating carnatic based compositions. The song that I have chosen today is one of the best compositions in Bilahari Raga that you would listen to.

The song starts with a beautiful solo violin overlapped with SP Sailaja’s voice. The song is backed by mrindangam, tabla and other percussion instruments. The first interlude is owned by SP Sailaja and the second by KJ Yesudas. Listen to the interspersing of percussion with voice in the charanams. An absolute delight of a song.
