Projekt Ilaiyaraaja Season III — 312/365 — Vaanathilrendhu

Poonthoottam is one of my favourite albums in the later 90s because of two reaons — the beautiful songs (have already posted two in the pervious seasons) and Thanjai Vasan.

Thanjai Vasan was a young poet/lyricist who wrote a lot of songs during the mid-90s in Tamil cinema. Considered to be one of the talented writers, he passed away due to cardiac arrest at a young age. Some of the songs from the 90s that you like might have been written by him.

The song that I have chosen today is a philosophical song written by Vasan and sung by Ilaiyaraaja. The song doesn’t have extensive orchestration and backed by a synth beats with guitar. The second interlude has a beautiful synthesised version of Sarangi (possibly).

Don’t miss these two songs from the same movie
