Projekt Ilaiyaraaja Season III — 315/365 — Kanne En Kanmaniye

Every season, I make sure that there is a song from this movie (such a good album) and never fail to mention that it doesn’t matter who is the hero or heroine of the movie, the music of Ilaiyaraaja stays the same.

I have already posted two songs from the movie in the previous seasons.

  1. Unnai Kanamal Naan Edhu
  2. Vaanila Thenila

The song that I have chosen today is another beautiful folk duet sung by Mano and KS Chithra. The song is backed up by a simple Tabla rhythm with the guitar and flute starting the song in the prelude. The interjections that flute makes in the song are brilliant. The first interlude has a different rhythm pattern with strings, flute and possibly Nadaswaram (or Shehnai). The charanams again get back to the same rhythm as the pallavi. Check out strings back the voices int he first part. The second interlude is a strings and flute ensemble with a keyboard playing at the backend. A soothing duet that got lost in a bad movie.
