I already featured one song from the movie Vaathiyar Veetu Pillai and this is the second one. Although some of the websites claim it to be a raga called Gamanasrama, my carnatic expert says that the song is based on Hamsanandi (it’s also listed as that on Wikipedia).

The song is kind of folkish tune with different rhythm pattern which I am fond of. The enitre song is percussion based while other instruments make guest apperances.

Like many other Iliayaraaja songs, the picturisation of the song is cringeworthy and watch it at your own peril.

Day 152/365

Song: Hey Oru Poonjolai
Movie: Vaathiyar Veetu Pillai (1989)
Singers: SP Balasubramaniam, KS Chithra
