The Senate must fully vet Gorsuch

Elections, as the saying goes, have consequences. One of the most far-reaching is the new president’s opportunity to nominate judges to the U.S. Supreme Court, with the advice and consent of the Senate.

Donald Trump’s nominee is Neil Gorsuch, a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Judge Gorsuch would fill the vacancy created by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia last February.

We believe that all students, no matter their ZIP code, should have the opportunity for a great public school education; Supreme Court rulings directly affect all of those opportunities. That’s why we’re asking the Senate to thoroughly vet Trump’s nominee during the confirmation process.

My full statement on the nomination of Neil Gorsuch is available here.
